Similar for British Columbia. We have a lot of talk trees, some of which are
being
sent to the US as logs and not even made into lumber. For a long time all the
electric power poles were made of the trees or logs. Now some of the very high
voltage are of metal. A new corridor has been put up with metal poles with high
voltage replacing the many wood poles of a lower voltage. There just might be a
surplus of poles shortly when the old is de-commissioned.

In the now days, trees grow tall and straight.... Large Douglas Fir
trees are cut every day in Oregon to make very high quality utility
poles, that last for many years..... we would be glad to sell you all
you want... we'll grow more... if you like, we'll even soak it in
creosote for you.... and if you just got to have guys, there's always
hemp, for high quality rope.... our other big cash crop ;-)
