I once had a 40 meter vertical made of PVC with a wire suspended
inside. It worked fine, but PVC has one odd characteristic you should
be aware of. When the sun shines on it, the sunward side is heated
and it expands, making the pipe curve into a bow shape. It still
works ok, but the first time you see it, you'll think something has
gone wrong with your guy wires!
