Im pretty sure that there has NEVER been AC motor versions of the
G-800/1000/2xxx series rotators. I have never encountered one, or uncovered
any such evidence.
Even the old G-2000(RC) versions popular in EU are DC motors from the git-go.
The G-5500 converted about 2 years ago, the G-450A about 1 year + ago.
The 450A is not the same rotator as the AZ portion of the 5500. The top mast
clamp is fixed on the 450A, whilst the G-5500 is not, in order to mount the U
channel for the attached EL portion. And don’t think about mounting it upside
down…If you separate, then, of course, you can use any rotator for the AZ!
