There is no way I would even consider doing a 500 ft
wire run.  We're hams, we should be using... radio.
I would do 100 hardwire from barn to tower, then
wireless for the 400 ft run.

For an out-of-box solution I'd consider the Wi-Fi
Rotator Controller designed, made and sold by AF6SA.

Eliminates the need for the ancient HyGain/CDR boxes
and gives you a nice beam direction indicator on
your web browser.
