Snip > I operate a pretty serious 8 band rover, with amps and gain antennas
on most bands. We don't have high mountain peaks to work from, but we do
have plenty of trees to absorb RF. It is just tremendous fun to spend a
weekend covering 10 to 12 grids, and manage less than 100 Q's. So, now we
rove with 3 to 4 other rovers, and manage more than 500 Q's. Do we still
work the fixed stations? Absolutely! Will we continue to go out if some cry
babies manage to get the rules changed to ban our many rover to rover
contacts? Doubtful!

Hi Army. Sounds like fun. The rules, both old and proposed, in no way
limit nor change your operating style .... keep doing what your doing if
you are having fun doing it ! How many rovers you work defines if your
are in the Rover or the Unlimited Rover class. Its not unlike if I run
more than 200 watts on say 2m, I'm in the high power class.

Personally, while rovers do have to mind the rover rule that says "2.3.5.
All Rovers are encouraged to adopt operating practices that allow as many
stations as possible to contact them", I think semi - pack roving as you
descibed can indeed be fun. I think it would be awesome to see more
Unlimited Rovers .... I'm giving some thought to this myself.
