LoTW has gotten much better. Still a bit of a hassle to set up but carefully
follow the directions and it works. It is fun to watch my VUCC count increase
after a contest or just whenever someone new gets on board LoTW. Instant
gratification.
The network effect is in play. The first guy that loaded his log got no benefit
but now each new participant expands the value of the system.

I set up my LoTW account a couple of years ago and I won't go back. The HF
digital crowd is VERY good at turning in their logs. Many HF contesters
also upload their logs every time out. VHFers missed the boat somehow.
I've uploaded thousands of VHF contacts from contests dating back a decade
with very poor QSL results. Every once in a while one of the stations will
get on LoTW and I'll get a ton QSLs from just that one guy! LoTW has really
motivated me to try for awards like VUCC, WAS and DXCC both on VHF and HF.
I hope that more VHF stations will take the plunge. It's not all that
difficult.
