Ed,

Excellent idea! This works great. Thanks to both you and Eric for making it possible for the NA Sprint SSB module to work under the new rules. Just need to make a couple of notes now to remind of what to do six months from now!

Whenever wl_cty.dat is edited, the "Convert wl_cty.dat" button must be run
from the Convert CTY to WriteLog applet window in order for the edits to
take effect in WriteLog. Do not run the "Download wl_dat" button, or the
edits will be lost.

To move KH6 back to OC, run the Download button followed by the Convert
button.

One work-around is to edit wl_cty.dat to change Hawaii from OC to NA as the
continent.

Then, the Hawaii mult shows up as KH6 on the North America multiplier
window. When Hawaii is worked, the mult still does not record as HI on the
States and Provinces multiplier window, but rather as KH6 on the North
America window. Alaska is just the reverse as it records on the States and
Provinces window but not on the North America multiplier window as KL.

The Dominican Republic still records fine and both it and KH6 can have HI in
the QTH field.

Of course wl_cty.dat and namedmults.ini need to be restored for other
contests.

I've played with a variety of permutations to the namedmult.ini and
nothing works.

I can only guess that Hawaii is hard-coded as a country, not a NA mult,
as per the NCJ rules. But then again, I'm no programmer!

Wayne will have to fix that.

In the meantime, don't worry about it. The new DC and Canadian mults
show up on the multiplier page and are scored correctly.

Your Cabrillo will be fine if you type HI into the QTH field. WL will
accept it.

I suppose you could figure out your score by hand, but whether it is
worth it is your call!

I believe KH6 is also a mult now. How is it added?

Writelog will work as-is (accept the QTH) with the new NA SSB Sprint
contest. However, it will not calculate the scores correctly. The Cabrillo
generated by the program will include what you enter... the new (i.e.,
correct) QTH.

To correct the scoring, you need to modify the namedmult.ini file. With
guidance from Wayne, I've done that and it works.

NOTE: You will need the Original namedmult.ini for the NCJ CW Sprint, as
the two Sprints now have different rules!

----------------------------------------

First you have to find the file namedmul.ini that WriteLog installs. On
Vista and later, you'll find it in
        c:\ProgramData\WriteLog
    On XP, you'll find it
        c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\WriteLog

MAKE A COPY OF THIS FILE. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!

The [NAS] section in the namedmul.ini file is the list of multipliers for
the sprint. It and is currently used for both NCJ CW and the old NCJ SSB
sprints. The section that follows immediately is named [NAS-ALIAS]. It
lists aliases of the standard multiplier abbreviations to ease logging of
exchanges where the sender didn't use the the standard abbreviation.

In the [NAS] section
Add DC=3
Add NT=VE, NU=VE, YT=VE
Change LB=VE1, NB=VE1, NF=VE1, NS=VE1 and PE=VE1 to LB=VE, NB=VE, NF=VE,
NS=VE and PE=VE

In the [NAS-ALIAS] section
Delete LB=MAR, NB=MAR, NF=MAR, NS=MAR and PE=MAR
Delete NU=NT, YT=NT, NU=NT
Change PEI=MAR, LAB=MAR and NFLD=MAR to PEI=PE, LAB=LB, NFLD=NF, YU=YT

This makes DC a multiplier and all 14 Canadian provinces a multiplier.

Easy to do. Remember to copy the original namedmul.ini file before doing
anything! Again, you will need it for the NCJ CW Sprint.

Choose the NA Sprint and Phone as you did in the past. Check that all is
well before you dive into the fray.

Thanks to Wayne for his quick response!

If you have problems,. email me, not Wayne!

Will there be support for the new SSB Sprint rules (http://ssbsprint.com/)
or can someone give some recommendations on how to get all the multipliers
to work?

Thanks,
