I hope this isn’t a DUPE. After a WIN 10 upgrade a MS Outlook quirk has keep me
from posting and rejecting all my emails.
Was anyone able to get WRITELOG to work in the NVQP last weekend?
I am not an expert user. I use WRITELOG for basic contest logging. The only
connection to my IC-7100 is
to allow WRITELOG to read my operating frequency and mode. I have used WL for
maybe over fifteen years
for the CQWWDX, ARRLDX, IOTA, IARU, WAG, CQP and maybe some more. So I am not a
newbie.
The day before the contest I downloaded the latest version 12.53E. I also
downloaded the latest CTY, DATA, and SCP files.
I started WL and selected NEW LOG. From the smaller contest window I selected
NEV QSO Party. In the next window I entered
my call and county and that I was a single op in NV, Clark County. My exchange
would be NVCLA
So I thought I was all set.
I had the log open and when the contest started my first contact was with K7RC
in Storey County. The contest exchange is NVSTO.
WL showed FIELD RECEIVED INVALID. Thinking maybe it did not like the five digit
entry I tried logging a friend in ORG cty CA N6HC.
When I entered N6HC and used his ARRL section ORG I again got FIELD RECEIVED
INVALID.
Next I tried K6CEO in LA. I logged his exchange as LAX and again it was
rejected. WL would not accept ARRL/RAC sections
that the contest required. It would only accept state abbreviations. But the
state is not what the exchange desired.
I closed WL and downloaded N1MM+. It had been a long time since I have used the
original N1MM so had to relearn using it.
But it is was very easy even for a 77 yr old and intuitive and soon I was in
the running. I made 276 contacts without a problem using N1MM+.
After the contest I did some experimenting with WL to see if I had set up
something incorrectly.
Once again I selected new contest, then NV QSO Party, K7ACZ single op inside
NV, NVCLA..
The logging program started and I tried to enter some of the stations I
successfully logged in N1MM+.

KN6IHN SVC
KC2FZN ENY
W5JCC STX
KC5LL NTX
W3JJL EPA
All were shown as INVALID
WL seems to be broken for the NV QSO Party.
Disclaimer: The calls I attempted to enter in WL was for experimentation only.
I did not intend to log a station without actually working them and taking
credit. (I know someone will ask)
