I thoroughly spray my baseplate nuts every so often with WD40 and made covers
to go over them out of off-the-shelf PVC pipe caps of appropriate size. The
caps keep the oil from being washed off by rain/sprinklers, and the nuts/bolts
remain non-rusty.
