I'd have to agree with that George !
The location of said Skimmer shouldn't matter. On the Internet, on the
property - shouldn't matter.
"Anything, anywhere, anyhow, that provides frequency (or even band) and
callsign information should be considered assistance" (shouldn't it?) Seems
clear in my mind.
IE: Even if you only knew that FP5DX just QSY'd to 15m and not an exact
frequency, THAT should even be considered assistance. Who knows, maybe you
happen to know as a rule FP5DX always goes to 21.111.1 MHZ, and so now you
know exactly where to find him.
Are some folks so consumed with every smidge of points and beating anyone at
any cost by twisting the rules to suit themselves that they would do
anything to win? (legally or illegally)
Yes, some folks are. I know folks that are power cheating (mostly for WRTC
points and/or bragging rights & to smash existing records). Personally I
consider the problem of power cheating and remote receivers and transmitters
much more "unfair" to the guys playing by the rules than some guy chasing
spots.

I must admin that I never thought about running a skimmer at my own QTH. If
I did, that would seem like I would be ASSISTED!
I bet this starts up this discussion all over again, just when I thought it
was dying out.
