Jim, QST, August 2011, page 45, top right drawing shows ARRL timing for the
Eagle; key closure on top, actually RF below.
It shows the first two dits, clearly showing the delay (17ms) as well as the
rise and fall time of the first dit.
It is clear to see (by comparing it to the second dit) that it is 100%
complete and has the same wave shape as the second dit. The rf is simply
skewed by 17ms.

What is not shown in the picture is the timing of the Amp-Key line, but I
don't think it would be fair to assume Ten-Tec would have forgotten to skew
the Amp-Key line by the same amount.

BTW, with the Model 418, Ten-Tec has developed the perfect timing
technology.
Too bad this has not been implemented in more powerful amplifiers.

When the 418 is keyed and RF is applied, regardless of delay of receiving
RF, it senses the presence of RF and does not release the T/R relay until
the RF has ceased. In addition, it has a front panel "hang delay" that
enables the op to add additional increments of delay if (s)he so desires.

Have either of you verified that it does (with a dual trace scope)?
