OK, what you want to do is what the telephon company does, and still
does even with fiber optics.
You solder in a shelter. In old phone company days, they even had tents
up on platforms that slide along the cable lines when they had to work
with a splicing case.
You can get a large enough box to stick your head and arms and the
soldering parts and irons into. Or do what I advocate now: Buy a low
end crimping tool set and use crimp on Coax connectors!
Even better, go to parallel lines. Use European terminal strips for
your connections, or wire nuts (open ends down so they don't catch
water), or various crimp connections of your choice.
There is a slip in splicing block for joining wires that is made for the
electrical trade. These don't cost a lot and have a very sturdy spring
to hold solid or stranded wires.
