Direct Passenger flights from New York JFK, to Ljubljana, run
consistently around $850 at the momnet. 3 Carriers at least show up on the
Booking computers, Lufthansa, Swiss Air, and Austrian Air.

Don't know what weight limits are, but if a clearing house was organized to
match up folks who need to move such objects, to passengers who are
otherwise travelling light, (Lets call them Sherpas) The combined needs
might be able to drive down the cost of independent transportation.
Would transportation security rules allow a passenger to meet up with a
person (who then becomes a Sherpa) who needs to transport (Say a 2
package, 90 lb load) overseas, and agree on a price, that might be far lower
than the combined price for the Passenger Ticket, and the transportation
charges, that would incur if the item was simply shipped?

This would not pass the test that I remember, that I was asked while flying,
some years ago "Sir, has anyone asked you to transport baggage on his
behalf? That is, are you carrying anything with you that is not your own
baggage?"

Hmmmm... Not only that, but a 40 lb transformer, in a carry on bag, might
cause some excitement at the exit of the passenger boarding X-Ray machines.
HI.

You could try getting your brother to get a price direct from the airlines
for air freight. Lufthansa or BA would be my first choice, but anyone who
flies directly from the US to Slovenia would be better - I don't know of an
airline that does, but there may be one.
