I suppose, being a smarter better person than all the rest of us, you get to
decide who is a narrow fool who needs to get a life. 

 

The second sentence quoted above makes no sense. Contest rules have no
relationship to dollars. If you are seriously interested in contesting, you
do spend money to make yourself more competitive, i.e., better transceivers,
amps, antennas, filters, QTH, etc. By its nature, contest rules are for
narrow interests. The biggest contests may get 10,000 participants which is
a very small segment of the ham population, not to mention the general
population.
