Paul,

I got memories saved for 75 meters SSB lower, a couple of freq on 2 m. FM, 300
mhz AM (line noise tracking) also 500 Mhz AM, then BCB and 160 m.

It is quite a versatile little receiver, but a PITA to use as are all of Alinco
products that I've had experience with.

I found the gain setting a little confusing, 1 being the highest gain and 10
the lowest. The sub rx is only good for 144 and 440 with overlap into the
aircraft band and above each of those bands. The manual gives the freq range
for the sub rx. I don't use it, enough to handle just with the main rx.

Be sure you are in AM or SSB mode. If the radio menu is set for auto detect
mode then it might be automatically going into FM mode for a VHF frequency you
select. I have mine set for manual mode selection so I can manually set the
mode for any frequency.

The main rx is good from around 50 kHz to and beyond 1.2 Ghz.

I just went though all the menu settings and didn't find anything that refers
to a noise blanker or noise reduction. Maybe it's in but not user
configurable. I'll take mine on my daily walk today and see if I can hear some
power poles with it. It's been pretty quiet around here for line noise, my
only interference is the plasma next door.

I'll let you know what I find today. I usually walk 4 to 5 miles a day and
past a lot of overhead wiring and poles.
