I would be VERY interested in hearing audio recordings of power line
noise heard at VHF or UHF using ANY and ALL of the HTs with AM
reception. Why? because two years ago I bought an Alinco DJ-X11T for
power line noise hunting. I found that in AM mode, power line noise
was more of a "chitter" than a buzz, very soft in nature and hard to
hear unless it was quite strong. Background hiss of the receiver was
loud and the power line noise did not sound any louder to the ear.
It also took a LOT of signal to produce any S meter action. I have
since rid myself of that unit but would consider buying something
else if it offered better performance for this purpose. I would like
to hear examples of what I would be getting next time. Having heard
more than my share of power line noise in AM mode on my VHF/UHF home
station up to 432 MHz, I have to believe the odd sound was a
deficiency of the Alinco, not the nature of power line noise at UHF.
