Hi Jon and list,
I also just bought a new OMNI 6 Plus, actually I am still within my 30 day
trial period.
I bought the 6+ with the stock SSB filters and purchased an Inrad 400hz CW
filter separately.
I have to say that I am 100% satisfied and happy with my new purchase, and
this is after having
owned some really nice Japanese and American gear. At present FT890AT,
IC751a, IC735.
None of this gear is in the 1000MP, 1000D, 775DSP, or 950SDX class.
If you compare the pure stats on the OMNI to these radios, I think you are
bound for some
disappointment. Even the rigs above are not without flaws however.
I one quirk with my transceiver that I felt was (is) beyond convention - the
spur at 21.330.
The DSP notch in the OMNI makes up for this in the same way that the auto
tuner in other transceivers makes up for their inability to operate into 2
to 1 SWR's - my OMNI works fine into a 2 to 1 SWR.
I also had some FM broadcast images showing up on the 10 meter CW band at
times, but a low pass filter took care of this 100%.
I have had no problems with key clicks, but I did have a problem with mode
changing out of FM mode to LSB. TenTec sent me a replacement board (Next Day
Air) that corrected this.
I consider the OMNI 6+ to be an expensive middle shelf transceiver as
compared to a lower priced top shelf JA jobby. Looking at it from that
perspective, the rig is a joy to operate on a daily basis.
Your milage may vary, I am very happy that I spent the extra money for this
transceiver as compared to a 746/756, etc.

I own a 1000mp and just bought a omni 6 plus from ten-tec..of course a mike
andpower supply and all filters..over 3000 dollars by the time it
arrives....I objectively try to compare the two rigs..first I notice the 20
meter display is off 30 hertz...call the factory..thats normal! That's
normal on a 3000 dollar radio???? I notice other annoying "normal"
glitches...cw click on qsk, drift,etc.....Do I have a dud or is this what I
get???? The 1000mp is a lot more receiver and transmitter...no matter how I
look at it...and after spending this much money I have trid to justify it,
believe me...comments????? Had to build an pre-amp to use the gold line
mike as well-it wouldn't drive the tentec!!!! jon k1tp
