If any have access at work or university to RF Design magazine, the current
issue has a piece on open wire line, and formulas as to its spacing where it
becomes a radiator. They are speaking of using wide spaced lines as a
lossy, (radiating) line for broadcasting RF such as paging around a
building. Very close spacing, no radiation theoretically, but when you get
very wide, it behaves less like a transmission line and more like a folded
dipole.
this magazine is one of the free trade magazines and quite useful. Anyone
can get one, if you are a "consultant" and most of us are. The editor used
to be Gary Breed, W9AY, who has written for ham magazines on the sleeve fed
dipole, and designed a kit QRP rig. He was good at having a ham related
paper in once every few months. The current editor seems to have fewer, but
it is useful to understand the wireless business.
