Well ... this is simply down to your experience verses mine. I use all
FOUR VFOs when I am doing serious contesting ... to me and
some of the other guest ops here, being able to do that is a real
advantage. The Orion should allow taking it to the next level.

(NAQP is another contest where having multiple rcvr ability helps ...)

Right, and some folks back away from SO2R after their first attempt. So
should everyone not try again just because of one data point ? The issue
becomes having the ability  to consider the options ... hopefully the Orion
will do this better than any other top tier contest equipment on the market.

Dale, just because you or I, do or do not see the need ... means little.

Key is will the platform provided by the new Orion allows the operator
to take their skill sets to the next level. Lots of things may change with
the addition of the Orion (or 2x Orion) to the desktop. The remote VFO
is only one piece. Most of the existing A/B switching as to antennas and
keying lines/etc. will need a major re-thinking. The Orion sure seems to
have the potential to allow some major improvements over the present
limitations offered by existing equipment.
