Ah poop!!

No Joy!

I have the computer's IP set now at 192.168.1.20 The mask is set at
255.255.255.0

set the radio' G8WAY IP set to the computers at 192.168.1.20

the radio's IP remains the same at 192.168.1.123

the green led on the ethernet card is on and blinking.

a little confused about the radio passcode

on the rig, it configured as XX.XXX

if the passcode is 12345

is that entered as 12.345

???

or just 12345??

Mike,

The 169.x.x.x IP address is one that is automatically assigned by
Windows to the ethernet interface when it is either not connected at all
or it can't find any address from the network it is connected to.

If you just plugged into the computer, it may be the second issue. Open
a DOS box ((click on >Start>Control panel. when that opens click>Network
connections. Then right click on Local area connections. Then click on
properties. This will open the properties box which has a scroll box in
the center. Scroll down to Internet protocols and then the properties
button. Most likely it will have the check box for automatically assign
address checked. Uncheck it and then enter 192.168.1.20. Then enter
the mask as 255.255.255.0 This will allow the computer and the radio
to talk to each other. When you are finished, go back and recked the
auto assignment box and you will be back where you were.
