The same thing happens once or twice a year in my Orion 565. The problem in my
case is that one of the internal relays hasn't closed "enough" and is left with
a dry contact closure. In other words it has mechanically changed state but for
whatever reason there is poor electrical contact across the contacts. My remedy
is to simply cycle through all the TX/RX/antenna position relays and when you
operate the offending relay your receiver should come alive. Since operating
the T/R relay by transmitting doesn't cure the problem, the culprit is one of
the others.
Or, it could be something else!
