Thanks Dan -- just the kind if simple idea I am looking for. You even have the "raising fixture" shown that is close to what I envision!

Larry

I hope that I understand your question/dilemma. If so. take a look at the
drawing I just made.
I can imagine buying 3 pieces of pressure treated 2 x 4 . Then use 2 of them
as your "mast support" and the third one as your mast. Put a hinge pin at
the top of the 2 mast supports and put the mast in between. Now you have all
3 2x4s parallel except the middle one would extend above the supports by
enough to attach the vertical antenna onto. Then connect a rope at the
bottom of the middle 2x4 so that you can raise and lower the antenna .
You just need to find a way to support the 2 outer pieces of wood. Maybe
against the side of a house.

If you arrange the elevate radials correctly, this will tilt down between
them.

Best Regards

Subject: [TowerTalk] 40M Homebrew Vertical - mounting ideas solicited

Hi all,

I am building a homebrew 40M vertical with raised radials. (Yes, I have
studied the N6LF and K3LC literature.)

It will be sitting on a 10 foot metal mast. I am looking for ideas for
mounting the driven element. I want to be able to tilt the vertical over
without effecting the radials. Obviously, the radials and driven element
must not be electrically connected to the mast or each other. The mounting method should not effect the radiation pattern -- implying that it cannot be
fabricated out of metal. I also want to be able to raise the vertical
myself without my XYL needing to help me. I plan on fabricating this
myself, only purchasing raw materials.

I am open to any weird ideas! Pictures are especially helpful.
