Thom, glad you got it working.  

But…it sounds like it’s time to do something with that laptop. e.g., add 
memory, thoroughly scan it for maleware, or replace it.  No modern computer 
should take more than a few minutes to boot.  Also, many computer problems are 
fixed by rebooting.  I recommend rebooting weekly at a bare minimum.  I turn my 
computers off at night, except for the APRS i-gate desktop.
