Years ago most DX Contests from anywhere in the USA or Canada was really a
DX Contest. You hunted down the DX, broke a pile up or two, and if you were
lucky you actually ran a few Q's. The only stations who ran more were the
big Multi's (K2GL, W3AU) or the well equiped Single Ops (W6RR, K6AHV). The
winner was usually the better DXer.

But there is hope. There is a real DX Contest where you work DXCC and Zones
and its running right now. The CQ DX Marathon runs all year. There is an
overall winner, An SSB winner, and low power winners, and even winners on a
single band.
