CQ WPX was my first experience using WriteLog & I had the same problem.

I have experienced the same problem when using CT.  It seems to be about the
same whether I run low or high power.  Changing computers didn't help
either.

As others have said, its probably caused by Windows 95/98 trying to do too
many things at the same time.
