Nice thought, but not that simple. Many competent operators use this
technique to reduce the size of their pileup. Your going away has just made
it easier for the competent operator to copy one of the other 5 people
calling who already know who he is.
Since you didn't stick around to copy his call, the following is probably
also true: You unknowingly worked him later during a slower period when he
didn't have so many stations calling, thus was sending his call each time in
order to attract people whom hadn't worked him yet.
So, though you say above "the QRZer just lost a contact" what really
happened is this: The QSO was, unbeknownst to you, put off until a slower
period to his advantage.
You gotta get up pretty early in the morning to sneak past some of these
guys.
