We have seen this problem as well.
But we are using 200mW Microtik cards.
It seems that we have better luck with the cards if there is one on each
side of the link. On the backhauls anyway.
We have a few in some omnis for PTMP and they work just fine when we connect
with Orinoco cards from our vehicles and with RGs.
But with that problem we also had excellent ping times from our tower and on
the network. But the connection would drop out.
So I changed the Orinoco card with a microtik and boom... it was running
like a champ!
So I dont know if it is just a fluke that it was doing that with 1 orinoco
and 1 microtik and started working great with 2 microtiks or what...
Are you gusy seeing this as well... Are you using just one of the 100mw or
200mw radios when this happens??
You might take a look.

I still cant get my 100mW radios to work in my Flashrom units yet.
But I have been a little busy too...
Anyway one need any 100mW radios.... ;-)
I have 10 and they aren't doing me any good right now.... :-)
Microtik seems to work better for us anyway and I have plenty of them.

Holler if you need some.. :-)

Strange, very strange, its only a 1.5mile link, and its LOS and all the
connections are good, everything is good

The link seemed solid...however, sometimes the reported S/N ratio would drop
below 0 and the link would just quit. I suppose the code in Karlnet looks
for this situation and drops the link...even though it may be just a signal
strength reporting problem from the PRISM II card and does not reflect the
reality, which is a good solid signal. However, a dropped link, whether
from bogus signal strength reporting or a real sig. problem is still a
dropped link. What is a real question to me is why the card seems to
work so well in my PtP link. I further checked my notes, and the reported
signal strength at the AP-1000 in the PtP slot with the Orinoco card in and
then with the 100mW PRISM II card substituted was the same. So, no problem
with reporting sig. strength in that slot. Very strange.
