Glad my description helped you out.
I noticed you and Carl both commented on how slow the serial port now
works in version 1.370
When I control the rig frequency (right or left click on VFO A button)
from Carl's program it seems like it controls the rig instantly but the
frequency on Carl's program window lags by a second or so). If I turn
the VFO A knob on the rig the program display lags the receiver display
by between 1 or 2 seconds (I have the VFO step set to 10 since I
normally tune slowly so the display may not lag as much as yours).
If I click a spot in my Logger32 telnet window it qsy's in between 1
and 4 seconds, but I consider this normal since Carl's program has to
update a file and the logger program has to read it (the Jupiter /
Pegasus "write info to a file" and programs read it determine frequency
or mode so the same idea/format was applied to the Orion control
program).
I didn't time the 1.369 version, just the 1.370 one. It's not really
too much of an issue for me, normally I wait longer than that in S&P to
hear a callsign but I admit it may be annoying to some.

Thanks for the good info George. I built the cable following your
suggestions and it work's perfectly. In other words, the schematic on
page
15 of the SteppIR manual works with the Orion. I use the N4PY software
to
control the Orion and polling is set on. I also use Logic7 for logging
and
to QSY the Orion for DX spot's. All is working 100%. It was a good idea
to
ask here before bugging the guy's at SteppIR on Monday. I also have the
N8LP
tuning relay kit. I plan on building it sometime this week.
Interesting side note. When using my Pod to tune around the band with
the
Orion , the frequecny on the N4PY software lags behind the Orion's
frequency display. So, when I pass over a SteppIR antenna tuning point
say
from 14.200 to 14.250 which would happen at 14.225 the Orion display can
show 14.229 and the N4PY display is still at 14.224 the SteppIR won't
retune. So this frequency information is coming from the N4PY output
file.
As this is working slow now, I think I will stick with ver 1.369.....
