Carl,
You mentioned the 2.5 second file read time is a continuous timed
process. So depending on where in the cycle the file change occurred
last it can take between almost nothing to 2.5 seconds to pick up the
change in VFO frequency?
I'm just wondering if that is the reason I see the response to
clicking on a telnet dx spot go from almost nothing to a noticeable
pause back to almost nothing? Or is it a change in the Orion serial port
response.
It just doesn't seem that different to me, but maybe it is because I
usually run your program with polling on since I need it to broadcast
the frequency to the SteppIR controller and since I like using buttons
and knobs on the radio.

Jeff,
In polling mode, my N4PY software only reads the frequency form the
Orion
every 2.5 seconds. If you turn polling off, then when you tune from the
pod, the program is driving the Orion and this delay goes to almost
zero.
