if you wish to be sure the serial card is installed and the computer recognizes the card look in SYSTEM (under CONTROL PANEL) > Hardware>Device Manager>Ports. click on the PORTS (COM & LPT) and you should see all the COM ports listed by number. in my case i have COM1, COM3 and COM4 plus to LPT1 and LPT2. if your ports are there, then check in the software you are using to see if it also allows you to plug the item into one of those ports. just find the right port and you should be properly connected.

Hello,

I installed a PCI serial card from byterunner. Windows under XT under
Hardware information, tells me that it is properly installed and working. I triple checked the wiring in the cable. Tried Hyperterminal as suggested in the Ten Tec troubleshooting document. Not too sure that I had Hyperterminal was set up correctly? Still no luck, no communication. I tried two software
packages, HRD and TRX.

Any suggestions on where I should go from here?

Thank you,

DW, I've used PCI serial cards from Byterunner on several occasions with
excellent results. They're cheaper than most places as well. Their
telephone rep told me, last time I called, that Hams were regular
customers.

Tim,

I will check tomorrow and see if I can find a Serial Port PCI Card. Is
there any drivers etc required, or is a Serial Card plug and go.

Thank you again,
