The advantage of the BETTER modern analyzers is that they can make swept
measurements that display a resonance curve, that their data can be
plugged into design and analysis software to design matching networks,
and that they can do TDR measurements to expose issues in a feedline.
The FA-VA5 and VNWA3EC can be set (software switch) to read SWR
referenced to 25, 50, or 75 ohms. VERY useful if you want to find the
resonance of a high dipole fed with RG11. Used it five times this week
to do that.
