My 259B has been back 3 times and now they tell me it cant be updated to the

even updated in the past when I have to guess it could still be done. Dont expect any intelligent answers from them either, they sound like programmed

It may be possible for them to update it to a firmware version
somewhere between what you have, and what is the latest. I've got a 20
GHz VNA, which can take the latest firmware as it has a newer design
of CPU board. But earlier versions, with an older CPU can't be updated
to the latest firmware. However, there are numerous firmware versions,
and it's quite possible an early version could be updated to some
version, although not the latest.

I wonder if they offer trade ins.

Do you really want a trade in? I would not.

Some people have been lucky with stuff from MFJ, but many have not.
I'd like to buy something where luck did not play a major role in
whether it works or not.
