Hello,

What magnitude of increase of retransmits was seen when upgrading to 4.43K on
the base?

Is hard to pick the exact figure, but I needed to downgrade to 4.43d beta (uses
8.10
firmware) due to stability problems. I started having trouble with some
customers
after the upgrade. I've downgraded today and I'll watch closely to see if it
gets
better. That particular AP is in a very noisy environment - another company is
using
FH neaby :(( .

Hello,

If I am not mistaken, 4.43d is an engineering build that does not load tertiary firmware. If you have 8.10 on the radio, that is because that is the version that was flashed, not a tertiary load. 4.43d works well with 6.08 and 8.72 (8.72 with higher retransmits in my tests), and an 8.10 radio will go deaf if you use WEP.

By the way, 4.43K supports (by way of uploading proper firmware via tertiary load) the "new" ruby-II chipset that many people are beginning to get on their Orinoco cards. The pinkish-purple Orinocos need 8.10 or higher firmware to operate with Karlnet, and 4.31 loads 7.52. If you upload 4.31 to a unit using one of these cards, you will have to change the radio or force reload since it will not run correctly.

Chris
