Indeed. In pulse service they will do more than that.

No one claimed that it wouldn't do more, the rub is that it isn't
very linear above 420mA avg or 1,25a-pk. From what I've seen, a
3-500 can do c. a 10a pulse and an 8877 can do a 50a pulse, but that
doesn't mean such peak currents are okay in SSB service.
