[CQ-Contest] WPX Debate

You have apparently missed the point of my posting and NOT understood
it.

I proposed a group of SIX changes to the WPX rules precisely for the
EXPRESS purpose of making for a MORE competitive contest for the
Midwest, West Coast and the rest of the country.

Since the Mid-West and West Coast work a LOT more NE than a NE station
can work West Coast and Mid-West how does my proposing that they get
points for working US stations keep my advantage? It DOES NOT! It
helps everyone ELSE! One only has to operate SS, Sprint, or NAQP to
understand this.

Likewise, ask yourself why NAQP has been referred to as the K6LL qso
party and not the N2NT qso party? Maybe it is because Dave can work
several HUNDRED more US stations than Andy can in the SS. By allowing
points for US to US qso's it does NOT help the NE stations, but it does
help everyone else. That was the whole idea!

I have also made proposals so that there is INCENTIVE to use all six
bands, AGAIN, favoring the rest of the country.

If you think that my proposals help the East Coast then you really need
to learn a LOT more about contests, propagation AND strategy.

With respect to your "just one contest..." it has been pointed out by
others that we ALREADY have it, the 24 hour WW sprint called the IARU
Test in July. Everyone works everyone else for points on all 6 bands
with NO time limit. It is a great contest because there are NO time
limits and NO 0 pointers. This is the way it should be and the way I
would like the WPX to be. 48 hours and work EVERYONE on all 6 bands!

I have suggested changes to the current WPX rules that I believe will
help our European-challenged brethren and encourage more competition. I
have also (privately) challenged some of the primary complainers about
the WPX rules (who routinely kick butt in SS) to come up with a FAIRER
system of scoring for SS so that we in the NE can compete.

If we as a group of contesters are really interested in "fairness" then
lets attempt to make ALL contests "fair" so that no one feels that they
are getting the short end of the stick. What say we start with SS?

Finally, I MAINTAIN that hard work, creativity and determination are
what cause us to achieve better results that we otherwise might expect.
Those of us who ARE more flexible and creative will have BETTER results
than those who are not. Like most things in life, you get out of
contesting what you put into it. If you operate in a half-assed manner,
you will have a half-assed score. If you push your own physical and
mental limitations and get out of the comfort zone, it is truly amazing
what you can accomplish. Your best effort won't be enough to beat all
the well-equipped NE stations in ARRL at the bottom of the cycle, but
you may beat some of them who are not too motivated, and wouldn't THAT
be something to be proud of?!
