Okay, now I'm really confused! I'm looking at the V2 sweep mod document
and
have my 565AT in bits in front of me. Cannot for the life of me identify a
battery anywhere on either the document or the hardware on my bench. Huh,
what gives? Where exactly is this battery? Lets try and narrow it down to
a
specific board first:
DSP/CPU
Display
Left side front panel
Right side front panel
Maybe I'm being dumb here but nothing I can see looks anything like a
battery I've ever seen before.
Thanks

It's in the front panel of the Orion. It's a coin cell. See the
description on the tentec website for how to do the version 2 sweep mod.
This description shows how to get to the battery. The battery is what
keeps
the non-volatile RAM alive. Changing it should fix your problem.

There's a battery? Who'd have thought. I know it says battery failure
when
doing a RAM clear but had assumed (ha) it was just a way of saying that
the
process had taken place. Maybe standard device text.
So where is the battery? Not on the CPU/DSP board. What is it's function?
Which schematic is it on? Coin cell? What expected life? Hopefully
changing
requires no special procedure. Who knows? Questions questions??!!
Thanks

There's a battery behind the front panel of the Orion. It may need to be
replaced. Follow the old instructions on the Tentec site for how to
modify
the Orion for the Version 2 sweep to get to the battery.

Subject: [TenTec] Orion resets at every power up
After being able to load software into the radio again, not sure if it
was
PC serial port cable or connectors but it's okay now, I'm now seeing
that
at
almost every power cycle the radio does a master reset. The sequence of
events is as follows:
Radio off
Power up and master reset complete appears
Radio boots but has unusable audio
Power down followed by power up again about 5 seconds later radio starts
normally
Power off and leave for a short while, sometimes only 20 seconds or so,
power up again causes master reset
Needless to say this is frustrating.
RAM clear and forced master reset do not appear to have helped.
Is it a 'known' issue?
Thanks
