AMEN Peter!

I still have a 4-1000A here that will draw 400ma " on demand". Ive used
it several times in a show and tell.  The glow really gets attention.

BTW, the first year of  (1954) Ford/Mercury OHV V-8's leaked even more
than ur bikes. I used to get 125 miles per quart in my '54 Merc back in
'61. They did a major redesign of the rear main bearing seal for '55.
