# DAILY BULLETIN ON SOLAR AND GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY from the SIDC (RWC-Belgium) #
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------#
SIDC URSIGRAM 50128
SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 28 Jan 2005, 1240UT
SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 28 Jan 2005 until 30 Jan 2005)
SOLAR FLARES : Quiet conditions (<50% probability of C-class flares)
GEOMAGNETISM : Active conditions expected (A>=20 or K=4)
SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet
PREDICTIONS FOR 28 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 085 / AP: 009
PREDICTIONS FOR 29 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 083 / AP: 016
PREDICTIONS FOR 30 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 081 / AP: 024

COMMENT: The solar activity is still very low, with the X-ray
background now down to A5. There is only a low chance of an isolated C
flare in the next 3 days. The solar wind speed is now close to 350km/s.
The only noteworthy event was a sector boundary crossing around 23:00 UT
on Jan.27, that just pushed temporarily the Kp geomagnetic index to 2 or
3. Now, the IMF is stronger, but with a mostly positive Bz. The
geomagnetic field is thus expected to remain quiet in the coming hours.
However, within 24 hours, we predict that it will become unsettled to
active under the influence of a low-latitude coronal hole.
