Everyone is nit-picking IDing every 3 QSOs or what happens if they
squeeze a 4th or 5th QSO in without ID. I see this rule aimed at the
clown that runs a frequency for 15 minutes without IDing. THAT is
unsportsmanlike in my book. Where better to state where the gray line is
being drawn than in the actual rules?

Assuming the station is following the three QSO per I.D. rule, you may
wait much longer than 30 seconds for an I.D. if the pileup is unruly and
the op is slow. Then when he finally sends his callsign it may be covered
up by the pileup and you will have to wait though another cycle. If you
do not wish to wait, just work him and ask for the call. If he starts
getting too many dupes, he may I.D. more frequently.

Why should I wait 30 seconds to hear an ID? My time is just as valuable
as the
run-station. As you point out, I could make 2 or 3 more Q's in the time I'm
expected to wait for him to favor his audience with an ID.
And who are those "common folks" who should just go away?
